Hello my fellow book nerds today I’m coming to you with two different posts in one. I am making my most favorite summer reads list and the books that I’m planning on reading this Summer that I have not read yet list. Most of these books are going to be contemporary because I am really into contemporaries during the summer time but I will try to include a few fantasies.
I’m going to start off with the fantasies that I read practically once a year because I just love them so very much. I just finished re-reading my favorite series of all time The Infernal Devices. As you may or may not know the Infernal Devices is my absolute favorite series of all time. I love The Mortal Instruments but The Infernal Devices have a very special place in my heart. Mostly because my favorite fictional boyfriend or should I say husband lives in those books and because I really am Tessa Gray. I just finished reading Clockwork Princess last week and let me just say that my mascara still hasn’t forgiven me. Now I’m going into a more paranormal version of fantasy I guess. Aliens. You may know if you read my blog many many times that my favorite book of all time is Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Now I never explain to you guys why it’s my favorite book.
There are books that are better than Obsidian. I know there is. But the thing about Obsidian that really makes my favorite book decision what it is is because I can always count on Obsidian to get me out of a slump or make me happy. I’ve reread Obsidian about 7 times and I don’t just mean that I skimmed through the pages are reread my favorite chapters. No, I reread the entire book and usually it does get me out of my slump. And there are times where do get in the slump during the summer in which I usually turn to my favorite book of all time.
Now those are the only two fantasy books that I’m including in this post and now I’m going to move on to contemporaries. During the summer I usually read a lot of Wattpad books and I’ve made many posts about my obsession with Wattpad so I don’t think I really need to go into it now. But other than those Wattpad books I usually find myself reading “finding yourself” type books. I’m not really one to like romance books that much or at least books that really focus on the romance. At least in young adult because in new adult I really do like reading romance books. So we’re going to start off with my favorite contemporary of all time which is Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and I don’t think I need to go into why I like this book. The title of it explains it all.
Then there is Morgan Matson. I just finished reading her book The Unexpected Everything and boy did I like it. But the book I’m talking about now that I really like is Since You Been Gone. I think I’ve reread Since You’ve Been Gone twice or once since the first time I read it and I am most likely planning on rereading at this summer because it does bring a smile to my face whenever I decide to pick that book up. The next book is Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella. I only read Finding Audrey once and to be honest I’m not planning on rereading it this summer but I did read it last summer and I absolutely loved it, and now I recommend it to every single contemporary lover out there.
And the last book on my favorite summer reads list is Eliza and her monsters. now this book has recently made it on my favorite summer reads list and it actually is my favorite contemporary read of 2017 so far. I posted a video on my YouTube channel about the book or what I read in the month of June and it goes into more detail on why I liked it this is the link toward the video HEREEE. But this book just made me feel all the feels. It really made me happy and I related to it so freaking much.
Now we move on to the books that I plan on reading this summer. The first thing that I’m planning on reading is The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman. I got the entire Trilogy at Target because the box set was on sale and by impulse I decided to buy it. So I am planning on reading the entire Series this summer but my goal is to at least finish the first book and start the second book of the series. The second book I’m planning on reading this summer actually hasn’t come out yet. I’ve been waiting for this book for months on end and it’s actually going to come out next week on my birthday (which is July 18th). And that is the third book in the Conspiracy Of Us Trilogy by Maggie Hall. I became obsessed with the first and second book of the series and I’ve been waiting on my toes for this third book and I absolutely can’t wait until next week when I finally have it in my hands and boy do I have all these ideas in my head on what’s going to happen in the third book.
The next book I’m planning on reading is More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera. I have been procrastinating on reading this book for a while now and it is just because I am not a big fan of sad books. Mostly because I hate crying when it comes to reading. I’ve cried so many times during reading books even though most of it were fantasies believe it or not. I haven’t read that many sad books an I think one of the few sad books and made it to my favorites list was My Heart and Other Black Holes. Yet all I hear is amazing things about Adam Silvera and his writing, and I just need to read this book.
The next thing I plan on reading I actually believe came out this month so I am excited to join in on the fun. Well at least one of these books may be fun but the other is another sad book. The first book I’m talking about is I Believe In A Thing Called Love by Maureen Goo and all I know about this book is that the main protagonist isn’t very lucky when it comes to love or finding a boyfriend and she decides to do this experiment where she watches these k-dramas and takws notes on what she should do when it comes to initiating something with her crush. So it is safe to say that I believe (;) ) that I’ll really like this book. Then the next book I’m planning on reading is Bad Romance by Heather Demetrios. I have read Heather’s other book called Something Real and I absolutely loved it. It is right next to My Heart and Other Black Holes on my favorite sad books. I’m expecting a lot of tears to come out of it.
Now lastly the final book I am planning on reading this summer is Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson. This book is the only Morgan Matson book that I have not read yet and I’ve been procrastinating on it because it is considered a sad book. I don’t know what my deal is with sad books, I really don’t, but I think that this summer is my chance to get over it.
That is all I have for this post. I hope you enjoyed this change of post and before I stop typing I would like to say that I am currently looking for a coblogger for Reading In the Rain. I have tweeted out a Google form that is meant for the application of this coblogging position. I am also linking a URL directly towards the form if you are interested. I am really excited to have a coblogger here and I hope you guys would like to join in on the fun.
Have a nice summer book nerds!
