Hi readers! Today on the blog, I am listing a few BOOKISH THINGS I’D GIVE A KIDNEY FOR as part of The Get Up Offa That Slump Blogging Extravaganza!
Here’s a description of the extravaganza from the words of the creator, Rachel @ Beauty and the Bookshelf!
Get Up Offa That Slump: A Blogging Extravaganza is a blogging “challenge” of sorts. There’s really only one goal: to just post something. And the idea isn’t for this to be some outline and pattern of memes and reviews and that’s it. It’s to show you all the things (just a few of the things) you can post on your blog and still keep it bookish. (Because we’re all here for books, right?) And, in short, the focus is on having fun, because if we’re not having fun blogging feels like a job or homework and, well, that’s no fun, right?
This amazing project lasts three weeks with different post options every other day! Sound fun? It’s not too late to join! Anyways, on with the BOOKISH THINGS I’D GIVE A KIDNEY FOR.
1. More YA cult books
Ok, I’ll admit it. I’m obsessed with cults. THEY ARE JUST SO INTERESTING TO ME! One of my favorite books of all time, a 2015 debut. is The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes. That book is about…you guessed it! A CULT! I want a really well researched, authentic feeling CULT NOVEL.
2. Jewish characters in YA
Guys. This is a huge issue. I know everyone is a bit sick of hearing about diversity in books, but we. cannot. stop. talking. about. it! I want a Jewish YA character so I can feel special and be able to relate to that character and enjoy the story more.
3. A YA book about Broadway
MY TWO LOVES!!!! A YA book about Broadway, not about theatre or Hollywood. I want it to be LADEN with musical references and star-sightings and ALL THE GOODNESS OF SMASH BUT IN A BOOK.
4. A book festival with all my favorite authors
This would be the best book festival ever! There would be panels, games, giveaways, and all my favorite authors! The best part? It would only be for me and like 20 of my closest blogging friends!
5. A Goodreads dating service
This was Goodread’s April Fools Day prank last year, BUT IT’S ACTUALLY THE BEST IDEA. An online dating service based on what books you like? Score!
6. An indie bookstore in my town
Seriously. We have Books-a-Million and Barnes & Noble, and that’s it. We need an indie bookstore where I can buy all my books and chat up the staff!
7. A way to combine the ease of a Kindle with the feeling of a physical book
I’m not innovative at all, so if you have any ideas for how we can do this, PLEASE TELL ME!
I hope you enjoyed! Let me know in the comments what YOU want!
