Surrounded by enemies, the once-great nation of Ravka has been torn in two by the Shadow Fold, a swath of near impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters who feast on human flesh. Now its fate may rest on the shoulders of one lonely refugee.
Alina Starkov has never been good at anything. But when her regiment is attacked on the Fold and her best friend is brutally injured, Alina reveals a dormant power that saves his life—a power that could be the key to setting her war-ravaged country free. Wrenched from everything she knows, Alina is whisked away to the royal court to be trained as a member of the Grisha, the magical elite led by the mysterious Darkling.
Yet nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. With darkness looming and an entire kingdom depending on her untamed power, Alina will have to confront the secrets of the Grisha . . . and the secrets of her heart.
Shadow and Bone is the first installment in Leigh Bardugo’s Grisha Trilogy.
So my first reaction to this book was “Is this going to be confusing” because you all know that if you see a map before a book starts then you will end up confused. To my astonishment I wasn’t that confused in this book like I am in other fantasy series. Sure there were sometimes I was a little “huh” at but I wasn’t that confused in this book. Going back to the book I was actually a pretty big fan of it. I loved how the story went I did gasp a few times when there was twists and turns. There was a lot of things that I wasn’t expecting in this book yet it happened. Thats why this book was a nice treat to me. It surprised me and I am glad it did.
First the characters. The main character Alina seemed really cool to me at first. She didn’t care about her looks, she was protective towards her friends, and she didn’t care what people thought of her. Yet as more and more that I read about her I grew to kinda dislike. She was becoming the opposite of what she originally was. That really upset me towards this book. I still like her but not as much as I did in the beginning.
We didn’t get to see much of Mal in this book yet he was my favorite character in this entire book. At first I didn’t trust the guy. At first I thought he was just using Alina and he was a player and all. He really upset me in the beginning. During the times we didn’t get to see him thats when I started to really like him. He is just so adorable and cute. I loved him especially at the end
At first I trusted all the characters at the castle. I liked the mid, I liked the king, and I liked the Darkling. I wish I didn’t though. I kept apologizing to the book after I finished it because of my character trust.
This book really gave me mixed feelings towards the characters, but not the book. I really enjoyed reading this book. I even started reading the second one already I am just not sure if I am going to like it as much as I like this one.
“I missed you every hour. And you know what the worst part was? It caught me completely by surprise. I’d catch myself just walking around to find you, not for any reason, just out of habit, because I’d seen something that I wanted to tell you about or because I wanted to hear your voice. And then I’d realize that you weren’t there anymore, and every time, every single time, it was like having the wind knocked out of me. I’ve risked my life for you. I’ve walked half the length of Ravka for you, and I’d do it again and again and again just to be with you, just to starve with you and freeze with you and hear you complain about hard cheese every day. So don’t tell me why we don’t belong together,” he said fiercely.”
― Leigh Bardugo, Shadow and Bone
So recently I was going through my old kindle books and I saw the Residue series. I read this book series about a year and half ago and I fell in love with it. Before that book I read another one of the author’s series called Fallen. And again I fell in love with the series. These books were one of the first YA series that I really got into. So I reread the first book in the Residue series, Residue. It reminded me all over again why I loved it. This book series and the other almost companion series isn’t as popular as it should be. So I decided that I would do a little review for you guys to see how these books are. They can be a little cheesy at times but who doesn’t like a little cheese.
Author: Laury Falter
Book One of the Residue Series…
When Jocelyn Weatherford is whisked away from a preparatory academy in upstate New York to live with her extended family in New Orleans, she is unprepared to encounter the dangers awaiting her. Yet even as she is thrust into an unfamiliar world of witches and voodoo magic, the greatest threat of all may be the boy she has fallen for.
While handsome and charming, he is also a Caldwell… a member of the family the Weatherford’s have been feuding with for centuries. As their forbidden love grows it becomes the volatile spark that forever changes their world and everyone in it.
So this book was actually the first paranormal romance type book that I read. By paranormal this book goes into witches and monsters. That type of paranormal. In her previous series the Guardian series she also goes into paranormal subjects but this time its angels. I read the Guardian series first and fell in love with the two main characters Eran and Maggie. They were the perfect couple for me and when I started reading this book I didn’t think that Jameson and Jocelyn would be like them. How I was wrong.
Jocelyn. She isn’t as kick-ass as Ruby or Tessa. She can be very sarcastic and funny at times. There is not that many things that annoy me about her actually. She is very protective towards her family and friends. Basically she puts everyones need before hers. That is the only thing that I have a problem with. She is okay with hurting if it means she is protecting other. She is very smart person. Not Hermione smart but she is very clever. She didn’t anything about witches and monsters before she went to New Orleans, but as soon as she got used to the idea she just went full out. She used every part that she knew of herself concerning the witch world as used to provide help for people.
Jameson. Oh Jameson. I feel like he was the one putting the cheese into this book. Yet I loved his characters. At first when I started reading the series I remembered that I hated the name Jameson, but I got used to it after 4 books. Again he is not as bad and snarky as other characters from other books. *caugh soulmate *caugh William Herondale. He is sweet and sweet and sweet. I think that is probably the only characteristic I have for him. Sweet.
This paranormal quartet really is interesting. It was my first witches story, and I did love it. It goes into these types of witches like healers and residues. It will keep you on your feet. Let me just say the fangirling over these two series is just wow. The ships Jameson + Jocelyn, and Eran + Maggie. They are the cutest couples. These stories goes into soul mares and meant to be’s. It will have your heart racing with emotion.
I say read it. It will not hurt you. It was on of the first YA books I ever read and I hope that you guys could read it too. They are both wonderful series with wonderful characters. there is no harm in trying it out. I don’t have a favorite out of these two series but the Residue series it what I was most interested in reading about. So give it a try it might just surprise you.
“Jocelyn,” said Vinnia, “you are a Weatherford. Being one comes with certain responsibilities. One of those is not falling in love with the enemy.” “Or even consorting with one,” added Spencer. “Or even looking at one…” said Nolan, and then corrected himself, “Unless you’re casting.”

“Winner of the 2012 PEN New England Discovery Award! There’s nothing real about reality TV.
Seventeen-year-old Bonnie™ Baker has grown up on TV—she and her twelve siblings are the stars of one- time hit reality show Baker’s Dozen. Since the show’s cancellation and the scandal surrounding it, Bonnie™ has tried to live a normal life, under the radar and out of the spotlight. But it’s about to fall apart…because Baker’s Dozen is going back on the air. Bonnie™’s mom and the show’s producers won’t let her quit and soon the life she has so carefully built for herself, with real friends (and maybe even a real boyfriend), is in danger of being destroyed by the show. Bonnie™ needs to do something drastic if her life is ever going to be her own—even if it means being more exposed than ever before”
Oh how much I loved this book. It really hit me in the feels. All the characters were just fantastic. The story was fantastic. It was really was an amazing book. So lets start off with the characters. Chloe (Bonnie™). She is just so awesome. After all those years that she was in the television show she didn’t end up like her sister who just wanted to be the center of attention. She wanted the normal life. And no this is not some cheesy Hannah Montana type of ordeal. I loved her relationship with her brother. I think all those scenes that she had bonding and talking are really my favorite scenes in the book.
What I do not like is her relationship with her mother. I am not angry at Chloe really, I am VERY mad at her mother. All those years when they weren’t on the TV show. She could’ve spent more time bonding with Chloe, but nope she didn’t. Even after Chloe’s accident she didn’t really care for Chloe like a mother should care. And one she told Chloe they weren’t going back on TV, I just. I literally grabbed my book screamed “NO!” at the top of my lungs hoping that her mother would understand not do the TV show. Her mother thinks its all good. its all good. This TV show would be good for their lives. Doesn’t she remember what happened 4 years ago. The accident. That accident was made because of the TV show. That mother really annoyed me. Not annoy as childish annoy, I mean angry annoy. how can she treat Chloe like that?! I just wanted to slap her every time she opened her mouth!
*calming down* Okay back to the other characters. Benton. her brother. Oh how much I loved him. He was just the sweetest older brother this girl could ever have. Just like her he doesn’t want to be in the spotlight. All those scenes have together really made me shed a few tears. It was just a great brother-sister relationship. We didn’t really get to know all the other siblings other than Benton and her sister who I can’t remember the name now…….. but I think the story would’ve been the same even if we did get to know all the siblings so I was fine with not getting to know them.
Patrick Sheldon. The love interest. I did not trust him at first it took a while for me to get used to him and not strangle him. I just thought at first he would be using Chloe but no.. He is not that guy. I learn from my mistakes. About halfway through the book I was finally shipping it. It took a while but now the ship is sailing.
the story itself was genuinely tearful. I did cry a few time reading this book. I saw how much Chloe progressed in life. How much she learned about this reality TV show. It really upset me to see how much she went through without having anyone to talk to except her brother because she didn’t want to be in the spotlight. This a somewhat serious contemporary. It’s not something I recommend for first time readers. Someone who is really really into reading would absolutely love this book. Even though it will be kinda rough for first time readers I say read the book either way. It was a fantastic book and it is something you will enjoy.
“Somehow, the pain and rage and confusion of the past eighteen years dissolves until all that is left is this one perfect moment; unscripted, unedited, it’s ours and ours alone.”

“I’m not Bonnie™ or Chloe. I’m the essence of her, the nontrademarked person the camera can never capture and my parents have no right to sign over. There is a sovereign nation encased in this skin that MetaReel can never trademark.”

The Syrena Legacy Trilogy
- Of Poseidon
- Of Triton
- Of Neptune
Summary: Galen is the prince of the Syrena. By Syrena he means the people who live underwater and have a tail growing through their bum. He is soon travelign to land in hear of a human girl who can communicate with fish and that is when he literally bumps himself into the Emma. Both of these teens feel the connection they have as soon as they bump into each other. Galen soon founds out that the girl he is looking for is actually Emma, but he still doesn’t believe she has the gifts. First of all she is human-ish and she doesn’t know anything about this Syrena world. Now all Galen needs to do is convince Emma of this fish-out-of-water world while getting closer to her to find out what is with this connection that both of these teens realize they have and not be sent to a crazy ward while doing so. He needs Emma to see that she is somehow she is the key to his kingdom. Told by both of the POV’s of Galen and Emma you sure would be able to see the story behind the human’s eyes and the Syrena’s eyes. This series was very different from things I usually read. This is one of my first series’ with mermaids (Syrena) in it and I have to say that I really did enjoy it. Not to mention it will make your inner fangirl go crazy for all the shipping that is involved in this book
My Review: I SHIP IT! GALEMMA! IT MAKING MY FANGIRL SELF CRAZY! Seriously these characters made the book even more fun than it originally was. All the bickering and teasing just made this book so much more adorable. Galem and Emma reminded me so much of Daemon and Katy from the Lux Series. I also really liked Rayna and Toraf. Rayna was Galem’s twin sister while Toraf was her mate and Galem’s best friend. The relationship between the four just was so adorable. The plot itself for the three books was amazing. I think out of all the three books I would say that the original one was definitely my favorite. Just because Galem and Emma are always bickering in the first book. When I was reading about all the powers that the Syrena had I had to admit it was pretty cool. I mean communicating with sea creatures, super speed, and invisibility. That is pretty awesome. I have to say that these three books really did surprise me. I was expecting so much from this book but it really did prove itself to me and I loved it. Its been added to my favorites list and I really recommend it to all of you as well.
“You can put me down now.”
“I’m not ready yet.” He tightens his hold.
“You don’t have to hold—“
“Emma? Can you hear me?”
“Uh, yes. I can hear fine. I just can’t see—“
“That’s a relief. Because for a minute there, I thought maybe you didn’t hear me when I said I’m not ready yet.”
― Anna Banks, Of Poseidon
“Basically, everyone thinks–knows–how sweet I am.
Don’t Look Back
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Summary: She doesn’t remember a thing. She doesn’t remember how she treated other people before. She doesn’t remember all the things she regrets now. She doesn’t remember who tried to kill her supposed best friend; Cassie. Sam has woken up in a hospital up with no memory of her life. Not even her name, her popularity, and her dream boyfriend. Yet she had to do something to get all these things in her life. The old Sam, the one she doesn’t want to be was the definition of “mean girl”. She doesn’t want to be the “mean girl” anymore. She is getting a second chance at everything. To be a better daughter and friend. Not only that but now she is falling hard for her childhood best friend Carson, but the old Sam would treat him like trash even though he cared for her. Yet Cassie is still missing, and Sam is recovering memories on what really happened that night and her past. Someones knows about her recovering memories and wants her to keep quiet about it. Now all that Sam wants is to recover her memories to find out what happened tat night and change herself to the opposite of what Sam used to be. I absolutely loved this contemporary/mystery. Jennifer L. Armentrout has done it again. If you haven’t read any of Jen’s books then this book would be a great start. You will not regret it, unlike Sam. (haha see what I did there).
My Review: She has done it again people! Jennifer L. Armentrout is one of my all time favorite authors and this book gives me another reason to love her. This mystery definitely was unique. Sam is just a character that you need to find out more about until you judge her. Because the old Sam was the “mean girl” of everybody’s life, but she had a reason for it she just doesn’t remember it. And nowthat she did lose her memories she has a second chance to redo her life that way that she wants to do it. Not only was the book added to my favorites list but one of the boy characters was added to the list of “fictional characters that I am in love with” list. Oh Carson. You are the definition of sweetness. he always cared for Sam even though she treated him life trash because she was a popular girl. They used to be childhood best friends until Cassie came along and ruined everything. So now that she is finally getting along with him and not to mention falling for him really is a adorable thing. Now lets talk about this supposed “best friends” and “dream boyfriend” My feelings don’t describe how much I hate them for making Sam what she was int he past. And now that she is finally getting away from them two is awesome, because they are just annoying to do that to Sam. Other than these tow the book was truly amazing. It has been added to my favorites list and I am pretty sure that if you read it its going to go on yours as well.
P.S. That prom scene will make you feel all the feelings.
“I was stuck in a life I didn’t remember, squeezed into the shell of this girl – this Samantha Joe Franco – and the more I learned about her, the more I was starting to hate her.”

Meant to Be
Author: Lauren Morrill
Summary: Julia does not break the rules. At all. She has been that studious quiet girl her entire life. Jason is the complete
opposite. He is the class-clown and all he does is break the rules. These two think they have nothing in common. So to say they are and have always been arch-nemesis. Now Julia is going on a school trip to England. Where Shakespeare was born. Her idol. Everybody gets a partner for this trip. Now guess who is Julia’s. Yup is no other than Jason. Other than this little problem she is also having troubles with her MTB (Meant to Be) which means that her MTB doesn’t even know that she exists. When these two arrive in London the first thing that Jason wants to do is go to a party. And now that Julia is his buddy on the trip she would have to go to. After the party she keeps receiving these romantic messages from one of the people that she talked to the party. There is only one problem though. She isn’t romantic. She doesn’t know what to type back to this mystery person who seems to like the same things that she does. So she seeks help to Jason. Jason agrees to help Julia just on one condition. She would have to break a few rules to mean her maybe new MTB. Now Julia will go on a wild goose chase to find her MTB. If he really does exist. It reminded me a lot of Just One Day, but I think that I enjoyed this one way more than Just One day. It is a very cute short read if you are craving a cutesy love story. It doesn’t go full out with romance but it will make you smile. (Warning! You will fangirl on the ships in this book!)
My Review: So much fangirling. Such a short book. I fangirled WAY to much in this book. I really shipped Jason and Julia sooooo hard, but it took a while for something to happen so it kept giving me anxiety. The characters in this book are truly wonderful. You can relate so much with these characters. Especially the main ones. Julia and Jason love the Beatles. Already something that I can relate to. Loves the culture in England (Mostly Julia) I can relate to. Her love for books ( I don’t even need to explain why for this reason) Being a sarcastic person. (SOOO RELATABLE). This book was very cutesy. It id not go into a finding yourself type of contemporary. It was mostly a romance novel and a very childish one and not a serious one. Which I believe made this book better. Even though it did have its perks it had its flaws as well. First of all, where is the epilogue?! When I read a contemporary I expect a epilogue at the end of it. There was none for this book, and that really bummed me out the end. Secondly, it took TOO long for something to spark between Jason and Julia. Almost didn’t happen until the end o the book. So it was really rushed at the end for the two characters to really express their feelings towards each other, and it didn’t help once again that their was no epilogue. One of the characters that I really didn’t hear form but I wish I did was Phoebe. Julia’s best friend. She didn’t go to the trip but by the way that Julia expressed Phoebe I wish that we actually got to meet and see her more often. Other than that is was a great short read. Something that you can read in a day and enjoy it. So give this book a chance it might just surprise you.
“I have my own e-reader, but I hardly ever use it. I need to fold down pages and flag passages with sticky notes. I need to experience books, not just read them. I never go anywhere without a book in my bag, and to travel across the ocean, I’d packed more than my fair share.”
― Lauren Morrill, Meant to Be
“I don’t use airplane bathrooms. As a rule. And I really don’t like breaking rules. (It’s kind of one of my rules.) I mean, if I’m going to plummet to my death, it’s notgoing to be with my pants around my ankles.”

Infinity (Chronicles of Nick #1)
Author: Sherrilyn Kenyon
Summary: Nick Gautier is a smart cookie for a fourteen year old. He believes he got every thing all figured out for him. He had a harsh life but there is sarcasm to fix that for him. That is until the night his best friends tried to kill him….. which was saved by this heroic warrior that seems a little to young for his age. This warrior sucks Nick into the new world of Dark-Hunters. A world that is too weird to be true. A world where the girl he has a crush on hunts for demons and the school quarterback is a werewolf. Now add a bunch of his classmates turning to zombies just as he learned about this new world. Now Nick Gautier and his chainsaw need to turn these zombies back into his annoying classmates. With school and this new life of his he doesn’t think he can handle anymore, but there is so much more to learn. At first this book was kinda confusing but then it started to turn around and it was winning me back. By the end of the book I needed more, and I heard there is going to be 14 books in this series! All those food references though too! Very very very VERY complex fantasy world but you will definitely enjoy it.
My Review: Oh Nick all those food references you make…. I am pretty sure that my favorite part of this book was just Nick. I love him if you can not tell. He was just so witty and sarcastic. All the things that I look for in a character. Now this world at first was very confusing but you just need to get used to the world. Its almost like Daughter of Smoke and Bone. When I saw all the reviews on that book saying it was a great book but you need to get used to the world, I thought that I should give it a shot. I was so confused. I did skip a few pages though……… I think thats why I was confused. So I made sure that I did not skip one single page in this book and oh my how much I loved it. Not only that but I heard that in this series there is going to be 14 books! 14 books people! So much more Nick! Anyway the characters in this series were amazing. I think that I enjoyed Bubba and Nick the most out of all them though. It is probably one of the only series that I have ever read that does not have a annoying character. Finally! This book was also the first book that I have ever read with zombies in it…. It was pretty awesome. Now I am more open to books in the zombie category. If your a fan of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series I am pretty sure you are going to enjoy this book. Percy and Nick are just so similar and I think that my love for Percy is why I am starting to love Nick. I just think that you should give this book a try. It is for all people really. If your just starting off or your a book fanatic this book is worth the shot.
FOOD REFERENCES THOUGH!!!!!
“I don’t intimidate you at all, do I? (Acheron)
Well, when you chased me through Kyrian’s house, I did wet my pants a bit. Guess I’m not housebroken after all. My mom will be so disappointed after all she went through to potty train me. But once you let me live…your big mistake…now I know you think I’m too cute and fluffy to kill. (Nick)”
― Sherrilyn Kenyon, Infinity
“How can this be your car? (Nick)
Well, I wrote a really big check that didn’t bounce to the dealer and then the most amazing thing happened…the salesman gave me the keys and let me take it home. It was like magic. (Acheron)”

Silent Circle Series
- Silent Circle
- Deceitful Circle
Author: Cassandra Larsen
Summary: This was not what Emerson was expecting for her 17th birthday. She expected a brand new car, a gift from her boyfriend, and maybe a big party for her. She was not expecting to be admitted in a coven of witches. She also was not expecting to find answers to her mothers “suicidal” death. Em doesn’t think that her mother really killed herself but people might think that she is crazy. She might think that she is crazy but when she meets Caiden she now sees he is far more crazier than her. He is the one who told her about the coven of witches. How he is a witch, like Em’s mother and now Em. The coven of witches weren’t so sure if Em was going to be a witch or not. Her father is human but her mother is a witch. They all thought she wasn’t because she didn’t gain her powers on her 14th birthday which is the age where witches get their powers but instead got hers on her 17th birthday. As Em begins to see this world of witches she keeps asking herself what really happened to her mother. Now more than ever she is seeing that maybe it wasn’t her mother that killed herself and somebody else did. This book really did surprise me. I am not a huge fan of witches and this book really made me rethink my thoughts about witches. The first two books in the series were great and now I can not wait to see what this author has in store. Even though it was a great book, it also was a very short book. Other than being short I would say to give this book a chance.
My Review: I really enjoyed reading this book. I thought this world really was quite creative and I enjoyed reading about it. As you know sometimes I could really like the story and not like all the characters. This is what happened in this book. The only character that I actually was really intrigued by was Caiden and some of his friends. I got annoyed really easily with em but as she progresses I started to like her more and more. The people that I really did not like were Sebastian, Olivia, Josh, and Ethan. As soon as I read the Sebastian was Em’s boyfriends I stated that I did not like him. ( I ship Caiden and Em #Cemerson) Olivia and Josh on the other hand took me a while to hate. More Olivia than Josh because Josh is just so hateful towards em and that already gives me a reason to not like him but Olivia was her best friends so em should have backup when things go wrong. When Olivia doesn’t back em up then that is when I really felt annoyed and didn’t want to hear from her. Ethan….. I have a love/hate relationship with him. he is one of Caiden’s best friend. He is super protective towards his friends and especially his girlfriends. Who happens to be friends with Em. So Ethan tried to keep his girlfriend away form em when they just wanted to be friends and Ethan didn’t let her do that so i don’t know about Ethan. Other than the characters I really enjoyed the setting and the story behind it. So I would say to give this book a shot, it might just surprise you.
*These two books were sent to me in exchange for a honest review.
To All the Boys I Loved Before
Author: Jenny Han
Summary: Lara Jean has loved 5 boys in her lifetime. Eventually she would end this feeling of love with a letter. For each boy she has ever loved she wrote a goodbye letter. Explaining why she fell in love with him and what made her stop. After she finished writing her letters she seals them away in a little teal box. Lara Jean’s life was going good so far without any drama except that her sister was leaving to college and one of the boys that Lara Jean has loved (her sister’s boyfriend) now is afraid that they won’t hang out anymore now that her sister is leaving towards college. Lara Jean has bottled up her feeling and never let anyone know about the letters or who she loved before. So what happens when the letter are mailed to each of the 5 boys. A lot of drama thats for sure. One of the boys, Peter now knows about this love that Lara jean used to have for him and now he wants to make her his “girlfriend” just to made his ex jealous. As soon as he proposes this idea a lot and I mean a lot of drama has to occur for things to be back to normal. I enjoyed reading the book I wouldn’t say that I loved it though. It was just to much drama that could be easily be solved by telling the truth but no we just had to add even more drama to the story.
My Review: I enjoyed reading this book but i wouldn’t say it got added to my favorites list. Mostly for the main character. I just thought that Lara Jean was just so annoying for a main character. She could’ve solved the problem by what, by just telling the truth but nooooo she had to add more drama into the situation. She kept telling herself that something bad was going to happen yet she didn’t do anything about it and thats what really ticked me off about her. Other than her I liked the other characters. I mostly liked Kitty and Josh the most and they were a major play in this book. Josh being one of the boys she wrote a letter to and Kitty being well just being Kitty. One of the things that confused me was who should she end up with Josh or Peter. The book didn’t confuse me but I confused myself. I usually know exactly who I want the character to end up with. At first I was team Josh then Peter came along then I was his team and now I don’t know. This has never happened before. I don’t know who to ship her with! And also when you read the description you might think it is actually a cliche type of book, but it really isn’t. I think thats why I have been steering away from this book for so long, yet I did read it and it wasn’t that cliche, and that is one of the things that I actually enjoyed from the book. I really liked the story and what the author was trying to put in the book I just the characters didn’t fit in the story as much I was expecting just because Lara jean was soo frustrating to read about. I know that there is a sequel to this book and I am going to read it just to see what happens but I think it would be at the bottom of my TBR list, juts because I didn’t really enjoy this book as I thought I would.
Both of Me
Author: Jonathan Friesen
Summary: Elias is different than other people. People might think that he is stupid and childish. But Elias is what you would call imaginative and unique. His life is not controlled by only him. It is controlled by him and the Other One. Elias is sweet and caring and knows about the real world, while the Other One could be a bit stubborn and a monster at times and lives in his own little world of Salem. Clara is running from her past. She has been on many adventures throughout her life. Elias’s hometown and imaginative world is another one. When these two accidentally meet when the Other One takes Clara’s baggage by accident they don’t know what to expect with their new adventure coming. Clara knows there is a problem with Elias and Elias might also know the problems that Clara has been facing. She will try to help Elias overcome the Other One,and just become one Elias. But to do that Clara would have to overcome her past and focus on the present. This book was just so beautiful and really hit me in the feels. This contemporary doesn’t really have that much romance blossoming between the two characters because they have to find themselves first and that is what this book was really about. I recommend it to book-lovers mostly, because if you just started of getting to read more this book might be a little to emotional for you.
My review: I loved it. I thought it was beautiful, funny, and so emotional. I love all the characters in this book especially Elias. He was just so quirky and unique even though he had a problem and that is was made me really love him from the start. The last book that I read that really hit me in the feels was The Fault in our Stars. Yet this book really really hit me. I know what I was expecting in The Fault in our Stars, but in this one not so much. So thats why it hit me harder than the John Green book. The relationship between Elias and Clara was just so lovable. They are both trying to help each other overcome their problems and it just so heart-warming. I know usually contemporaries are stand-alones especially the kind of sad ones, but I really want another book on their adventures. This book really was spectacular and I can’t wait for what the author has in store for the next books to come.

Summary: Worst birthday ever. First my boyfriends dumps me, I have no ideawhere my dad is, I feel like throwing up every 5 minutes, I just saw my ex kissing another girl on the day he broke up with me, AND I am officially the same age as my brother when he died. Yeah when you think the day couldn’t get any weirder, the HOT bad-boy Reid shows up on his motorcycle. You might think that he would go to the populars and not glance twice and what society would call “dorks” Yet he approaches me, only me. Everything that changes in my life was all because of him. now lets add one more reason to that list of “Worst birthday ever”. Someone is out to kill me. Why you may ask? Because I am a Oculi. What’s that you may ask? Well I can turn any thoughts into reality and make it disappear as well. I have to admit though that that part is actually pretty cool (And of course the Reid part) but the others I am not so sure about. Oh should I tell you my name? Well my name is Josie and I am a Oculi. This book was amazing. I am pretty sure that in a couple months this book is going to be the next big thing. I recommend this book to all. If you are a book-lover or your are just starting off in the reading world. either way I guarantee you will enjoy this book and all its dorkyness.
My Review: I really really really liked the story behind this. It is definitely unique and once I finished the story I wanted more of it. One thing that really stood out for me in this book were the characters. Usually there i one person in a book that annoys me so much, but in this one I didn’t fell any characters annoy me (even the bad ones. *waves a finger at the bad ones* you know who you are) The two main characters though. Josie and Reid…… I SHIP THEM SO MUCH. They are so funny and dorky that I have to fan myself if they get 5 feet between each other. ANYWAYS, this book was one of the first sci-fi’s that I have ever read and I have to say that I loved it very very much. I now can’t wait for the second one to come out…. which is in a year. Just read it though. I would say for you guys to give it a chance. I did it and I just loved it.
*p.s. The part where she had to push a car and instead pushed a hot wheels car. I laughed so much during that part

My Review: This series is one of my all time favorite series. Most of the dystopian books that I read, I don’t really fall in love with. This book caught me by surprise though. I actually was recommend this book by one of my friends. She kept telling me how she loved the book, how she loves Day, how I will fall in love with the day. After a couple of weeks I finally told her I would read it. I would have to thank her for that. All the characters are just kick-butt, and plain awesomeness. I never really had a wanted criminal/spy romance in any of the dystopian books I ever read. Let me just say that I enjoyed the story behind this romance. Out of all the characters Day would have to be my favorite (even though I really think he should get a haircut). He is just so witty, humorous, and smart. It wouldn’t be a challenge for him to be your favorite character. June on the other hand can annoy me sometimes. She can just be so stubborn sometimes you know. I think her attitude in the first book is the only reason that I am not giving this series a higher rate (besides what happens in the third book) Overall this is a great read for just starting of readers and fanatic readers. Its a definite favorite and I am sure it is going to become yours too.
“I don’t know if anyone’s ever told you this”, he begins. He doesn’t blush, and his eyes don’t dart away. Instead I find myself staring into a pair of oceans – one perfect, the other blemished by that tiny ripple. “You’re very attractive.”
I’ve been complimented on my appearance before. But never in his tone of voice. Of all the things he’s said, I don’t know why this catches me off guard. But it startles me so much that without thinking I blurt out, “I could say the same about you.” I pause. “In case you didn’t know.”
“You know, sometimes I wonder what things would be like if I just … met you one day. Like normal people do. If I just walked by you on some street one sunny morning and thought you were cute, stopped, shook your hand, and said, “Hi, I’m Daniel.”

Summary: Galactic Shade Griffin. Yup, thats her full name. If her name didn’t give it out already, Shade it a very different, weird, and quirky girl. She just moved to this new town right after her mother broke up with yet another one of her boyfriends. This time when they moved, they moved into this very old abandoned house. In this house she meets Brandon. Brandon is a ghost. Not one of those that are white and yell boo whenever they can. He is trying to redeem himself for all the wrong that he has done. To redeem himself he is entrusted by Shade who whenever needs help he is there for her. Shade’s life was going okay. She joined the school newspaper, made a new cartoon, and made new friends, But what happens when her new best friend goes missing? Not only her best friend but over the process of weeks, girls from her high school seem to be disappearing. Shade will have to help solve the mystery to who has been taking her friends and what does this person want with them. It was an “okay” read for me. I thought the story was going a little to fast near the end and I would’ve want more details about what happened. I would recommend to people who like the mystery genre. If you are just starting to read, I would suggest you read this book if you really enjoy mystery.
My Review: It was okay. I wasn’t bad and it wasn’t great. After I read the synopsis of the book I was really intrigued and thought I would enjoy reading it. Once I started to read I actually really enjoyed it. I like all the characters in this book. I think they had quirky personalities and I like that in characters. But as the book progressed I started to enjoy it less and less. It was going to fast for my taste. I thought the author could’ve slowed down a little more and added details about the surrounding ideas involving the kidnapping or the mystery behind it. As I got to the end of the book I was not enjoying it as much as I was in the beginning. I only had about 20 pages left in the book, and they still didn’t solve the mystery. So the author basically wrapped up the book in 15 pages where I would’ve preferred a few chapters. Other than the going to fast problem I actually really liked the story behind it. I thought it was a unique mystery that went into real life problems. These types of stories that go into real life problems; I don’t usually read, but I have to say that after this book I am probably going to read more books about it.
P.S. I know that Brandon is a ghost but I ship him with Shade…….

Genre: Young Adult/Romance
Summary: Katy just moved into a new town. New school, new house, and new people. Katy is a bookworm like us fellow readers. She owns her personal library and blog. She is sarcastic, witty, and a fangirl. So, I absolutely love her! When she moves into this new town she will of course meet new people. Meet Dee and (perfect) Daemon Black. Dee is perfect according to Katy. She is caring, sweet, and pretty. While Daemon is the exact opposite (except for the perfect part) He is sarcastic, over-protective, and he wants Katy to stay away from his family because she is and I quote “human” So why out of all people does Daemon Black; the sarcastic, troublesome, and player has to be the most gorgeous boy that Katy has ever met.If you have seen my favorite books post then you would know that this series is one of them. At first I wasn’t so sure about reading this series because…..aliens. I know I say that to everything but now I made an exception to aliens only. I read this series and now I wish I have read it WAY sooner, so I can be part of the bigger portion of this fandom. So……JUST READ IT. I RECOMMEND IT TO ALLL!
Rate: 10.0/10.0(Obsidian gets the full credit but the rest of the series will get like a 9.0
My Review: Read it. Just read it. You don’t even need to finish reading this. Just but the freaking book! All the characters are funny and witty and they are just so *does a jump in the air* awesome! There is 5 books in this series and I love all of them, but the original one (Obsidian) needs to be my favorite. And that is because of Katy and Daemon’s love/hate relationship. Some people might get frustrated and annoyed but I absolutely love it. This story has a mix of comedy, romance, and just plain awesomeness. I enjoy reading mostly from Katy and Daemon but there is a lot of characters in this book that I also like to read about, but in my opinion Katy and Daemon have the best lines in the book series. So, I think that I don’t need to keep proving my point anymore. Are you going to read it? You better! But anyway I recommend this to ALL. This series can be for book lover, just starting off books, and all different types of genres. So, there is no reason for you to not get this book so what are you waiting for? Get it!
“Why are you such an ass?” The words came out before I could think twice.
“Everyone has to excel at something, right?”
“Well, you’re doing a great job.”-Obsidian
“Remind me,” he paused, drawing in a stuttered gasp, “to never piss you off again. Christ, are you secretly a ninja?”-Obsidian
“Will you show me what you really look like? You don’t sparkle, do you?”-Obsidian
“I didn’t eat all of it.”
“Oh, so it ate itself?” Dee shrieked so loudly I thought I heard the rafters in the ceiling shake. “Did the spoon ate it? Oh wait, I know. The carton ate it.”
“Actually, I think the freezer ate it.”-Obsidian
The Lincoln Spy
Author: Monet Polny
Genre: Historical Fiction
Summary: Amelia is on her first mission. If you think she is a spy, she is way more than that. She is a time traveling spy. She is given the hard mission of traveling back in time to change the future. A mission that every time traveling spy has failed. To change the future that awaits President Lincoln and President Kennedy. Just to her luck her partner is the impulsive and annoying Otto. They travel from Washington D.C. to Dallas to save these two presidents lives. They try not mess with the past too much but saving these two presidents already sets a completely different future. This historical fiction really brought my eyes to more books like this. It wouldn’t be considered one of my new favorite genre or book. It didn’t scream to me as much as other books, but I would definitely keep an eye on the upcoming books that this genre brings.
My Review: It was an okay book for me and that was just because I am not really used to the historical fiction genre. I do like that these two kids are only fourteen and that already says a lot on what teenagers are capable of doing. I do like all the characters in this book though. At first Amelia seemed like a very stubborn girl so I had to get used to her and get to know her better before I actually started to like her. Otto on the other hand I liked as soon as he said his first line. There are some times in this book that I got a little bored of reading but this was a very unique book to say. So it took a lot of time and creativity to write this book, and I give the author props for that. I would never have thought of time traveling presidents for a book to write. Even though its a creative idea I think its hard to express in a book. Because its history you would really need to know every single detail of it if you would like write a book about it. I enjoyed reading it though. Would I put on my favorites list? No. But I would recommend to some people. Mostly people that enjoy history but I would not recommend it for people who don’t like learning about American history. I am now more open about reading historical fiction I just don’t know if I would enjoy reading that genre.
When It Happens
Author: Susane Colasanti
Summary: Sara wants two things in her senior year of high school. To get in a amazing college and to find true love. She thinks she got it all figured out atthe beginning. She already found her supposed true love; Dave. And that is just because he made a move on her first before anyone else did. She is also at the top of her class. She tries so hard to be perfect. She tries and tries to get in the college that she most desires. Sara is so blind by finding her love and finding the right college for her that she can’t see who she is really meant to be with. Tobey is the opposite of Sara. He is a slacker, loves rock, and is very quirky. He doesn’t put any effort onto his work. He is okay with being average. He is okay with not going to college. He doesn’t really have any desires or wishes that he would like to achieve in the next year. Except for one. All he wants is for Sara to fall in love with this quirky guy. He understands Sara and cares about the little things that Sara absolutely adores. Can a slacker wannabe rocker have a top class geek fall in love with him? This is one of those lovey-dovey stories and to be honest I read better books then this. The story just went WAY to fast and it was too short to have a detailed enough book. I like that its dual point of view between Sara and Tobey, but this book didn’t really scream “amazing!” for me.
My Review: I have seen better romance novels than this. It was WAYYYY to fast of a book and I think that the author could’ve wrote a few more chapters just so the readers could get to know these characters better and see how their relationship progresses. I didn’t really like any of the characters. While I was reading I just didn’t feel entertained reading from both Sara and Tobey’s point of view. The only characters that I actually enjoyed hearing from is Sara’s and Tobey’s friends. They are just so much funnier and let-loose than these characters. The relationship in this book is quite cheesy. Its good to have a little cheese but this was just a bucket full of it. I also didn’t really see that much character development in this contemporary. In most contemporaries that have massive character development, but in this one not so much. I have to admit though the quotes in this book are actually pretty awesome.“I’m thinking that it might actually be possible for things to work out sometimes. Definitely not everything and maybe not the way you imagined. But sometimes, when you least expected it, life surprises you.” and“Too bad guys aren’t like Mr. Potato Head Where you can pick and choose which parts you want. Then we might come up with a guy who meets your standards.
– Maggie” That is probably the only parts of the book that I really really liked. I would say to pass this book, because it didn’t grab my attention, it was a very fast read, and if you would like to see a full relationship grow don’t get this book. If your the type of person that likes cheesy love stories this book is perfect for it.
Author: Rainbow Rowell
Summary: Cath is a fangirl. And by fangirl I mean a really big fangirl. She is the fangirl of the Simon Snow series. Well the whole world is a fan of the Simon Snow series. But she is huge. She writes fanfictions, Simon Snow merchandise, forums, and everything else. Her and her twin sister grew up with Simon Snow. While her sister already grown away from the fandom Cath is far from growing away. Wren is going to college which means that Cath is going to college. Which means that Wren basically needs to drag Cath away from her laptop so they can go to college together. When they arrive to the school Wren already fitted in with the crown. Going to parties, getting drunk, and doing basically what every college student would do. But Cath is the exact opposite. She stays in her room writing fanfiction, reading Simon Snow stories, and going to her english writing class. That is until she meets Levi and Reagan. Those two try to pull Cath out of her shell that she has been hiding in through the majority of her life. This book is so relatable to the life of an average fangirl and it was really really REALLY good. Now that I read this book I am now wanting to read more books by Rowell. She made Cath seem so normal and relatable that now I wonder if in her other books she has the same types of characters.
My Review: I just adored this book. I really got into the book by the second chapter and it didn’t take me long to fall in love with all the characters in this book especially Cath and Levi. As I was saying in the summary this book is just so relatable. I mean Cath is exactly what I am. A fangirl. Even though this book has some romance in it, it is more like a “finding yourself” type of contemporary with a hint of romance in it. I just love how all the relationships in this book are (except maybe Cath’s mother and Cath’s relationship) My favorite parts in this book would be when Cath is finished studying and writing in the library and when she exits the library she find Levi just waiting there for her. I also really liked the way Rainbow put some of Cath’s Simon Snow fanfiction in the book. It just shows the readers how much Cath really is into this fandom and that we readers can relate to that sort of thing. The only thing that I am complaining about is that THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE. I need more Cath. I need more Levi. I just need more of this book in general. Don’t get me wrong it ended on a happy note its just I NEED MORE. Anyways I really really really recommend this book. Even if your not a big fan of contemporary’s this book will definitely make you want to read more of these types of books. And just to prove my point here are some of my favorite quotes from this book
“You’ve read the books?”
“I’ve seen the movies.”
Cath rolled her eyes so hard, it hurt. (Actually.) (Maybe because she was still on the edge of tears. On the edge, period.) “So you haven’t read the books.”
“I’m not really a book person.”
“That might be the most idiotic thing you’ve ever said to me”
Reagan was sitting up at Cath’s desk when Cath woke up.
“Are you awake?”
“Have you been watching me sleep?”
“Yes, Bella. Are you awake?”
“You’re never going to find a guy who’s exactly like you—first of all, because that guy never leaves his dorm room.”
The Raven Boys
Author: Maggie Stiefvater
Summary: Blue is the daughter of a physic, so it would be normal for her to walk around in a graveyard with her physic aunt talking to souls. While she is talking to souls she encounters Gansey; a rich boy with a taste for adventure. There is just one problem with this Gansey, he goes to Aglionby. The only private school where Blue lives. Where all the snobby rich boys go to. The boys known as the Raven Boys. Although she knows to stay away from Gansey she can’t help but be attracted to him and like all of his friends. Adam is the poor boy who goes to the private school because of his scholarship. Ronan is the fierce warrior who shows his anger to hide his true feelings and emotions. Noah is shy and timid. Quiet yet brave. Yet Blue has been warned. Once she kisses her one true love then that true love will die. She hasn’t had a problem with this. She never even considered falling in love, but now that she had met the Raven Boys, she doesn’t know what to think anymore.
My Review: I don’t know how many times people have been telling me to read this book. I just did not want to read it because of Maggie’s previous seriesShiver. Which I wasn’t such a big fan of. Then last weekend was the last straw. When I went to the Miami Book Fair to see Michelle Hodkin and saw Maggie and she was talking about the Raven Boys. I am glad that I went to that fair. This series hooked me by the 5th chapter. I literally finished this book in 1 day. I had to stay up at night to read it. And now I am reading the second book. I really like all the characters in this book especially Blue and Gansey. I also really liked Noah and Ronan. It is just Adam that I have mixed feelings about. Other than that this book really grabs you and you can’t stop reading it. At first it could be confusing because you need to get used to the new world. I would really recommend this book to you people who like fantasy. Just like my last review i didn’t really have a favorite part. I had a few parts that I really liked including the part where she meets Gansey for the first time or her visions.
My favorite quote from this book:
“Is this thing safe?”
“Safe as life,” Gansey replied.”
― Maggie Stiefvater, The Raven Boys
Author: Sarah Alderson
Genre: Young Adult
Summary: Lila is living away form the two people she cares about the most. Her brother Jack and his best friend (Also known as the love of her life) Alex. While they are in the military she is England with no family near. Lila is in fear though. She witnessed the murder of her mother before her very eyes and she has this power that she doesn’t know how to control. Lila heads towards the military base where Alex and Jack are. She feels safe with them near, but she is far from safe. Alex and jack’s purpose over there at the base is to find the murderer that killed Lila’s mother. The people who they think committed the murder had the same power that Lila had. Now that Lila has found out about all this stuff that is happening she doesn’t know who to trust. I found this book on GoodReads while I was looking at my recommendations. This book really caught my eye so I decided to give it a chance. I enjoyed the book. Would I put in my favorites though? No. But I still really enjoyed this book. I am planning on reading the second book but I just don’t know if it will exceed my expectations.
My Review: At first i thought that Lila was going to a very a annoying character, then I started to get to know her better and see her past and how much she suffered. I started to actually like Lila. The one person in this book that I just do not like at all is Jack. Jack is just to possessive over her. He cares for Lila but he doesn’t trust her. he couldn’t even tell her about their mother. It was Lila’s mother as well and not only Jack’s. Then there is Alex. Lila cares truly for Alex, but she is blinded by her love for him that she doesn’t even see that he has feelings towards her as well. I have mixed feelings towards Alex. I know he is trying to protect Lila and guarantee her safety though he also doesn’t trust Lila enough to give information that you would give to someone you care about. Including his feeling for her. My favorite part of this book would have to be this line that Alex says.
“It’s Lila–come on, Jack. She might be a little impulsive but that doesn’t make her a sociopath.’
I swivelled my gaze to Jack, trying my best not to look like a sociopath.” – Hunting Lila
I thought that was sentence from Alex and Lila’s effect towards that sentence was so hilarious. I didn’t really have a favorite part i this book. I just had this line that was funny. Overall I would say to give this book a chance. i wouldn’t be the right match for some people but I know that are people that would love this book.
The Testing Trilogy
- The Testing
- Independent Study
- Graduation Day
Author: Joelle Charbonneau
Summary: It is many years into the future. The earth is in shambles after the war. Now only the smartest, the bravest, the most curious get to go what you call college. Cia is one of those people. She put her studies first and every thing
else second. She wants to go to college. She wants to help her country. She doesn’t want to have a boring life. Her and 4 other of her hometown friends are sent to the ultimate competition. It is either life or death. (yeah I know it has a Hunger Games kind of feel but trust me its very different) Along the way she encounters Tomas who was her friends back in her hometown and is in the Testing as well. He wants to make an alliance with her and thinks she got what it takes to win this competition. With the help of Tomas, Cia risks everything she got for this test. But is it worth it?
My Review: I enjoyed it? I don’t know. I definitely liked reading it and I did read all the other books to see what happened next. When I was done with series I did not look back and thing “great read” when I thought about this series. Most of the characters in this book annoyed me a lot and got on my nerves. I really didn’t trust Tomas, but I had my reasons. All three books could’ve easily have been one. Instead of using book 1, book 2, and book 3. The author could’ve used part 1, part 2, part 3. I was still a little confused after the first three books about what happened to Earth and why did the war happen. This book series has been out already for a year and just now people are starting to talk about. I was over this book series after maybe 2 months after finishing it. I have mixed feeling toward this book as you can tell. I wouldn’t say to you to read it because it just doesn’t seem as a book that one day will become a huge hit. It will have its 15 minutes of fame but it won’t last as long as other great book series. But I don’t really know when it came to this book. Many people seemed to really love this book and how it will be a hit movie some day. I am really indecisive when it came to this. it was a good book there are some friends that I would recommend this book to, but I wouldn’t picture this book as “one of the greatest book of all time”
On The Fence
Author: Kasie West
Summary: Charlie is a tomboy and likes being a to be a tomboy. She never cares about her looks or her social life. She cares about her family and basketball. Charlie is living with her father and her three brothers so you can basically say that she grew up in the life of a boy. Even though she has three brothers she considers her neighbor Brandon as one of her brothers as well. But what happens if she starts developing feelings for Brandon? Charlie is not only in this situation but she needs money. She needs money to pay of a ticket. She gets a job at a clothing shop and a beauty shop that screams “not Charlie”. You will see in this book how much Charlie progresses with her life. How she changes, and how being a girly girl can actually be a good thing. I enjoyed this read a lot. I am only complaining that it didn’t really get into what happened after Summer ended. There wasn’t even an epilogue! But I can’t complain almost every single contemporary will leave you wanting more.
My Review: I enjoyed reading this book. It is a really great book to read if you like contemporary books. I love Kasie West. I think she writes amazing books. This book and her other contemporary novel. I just wish she wrote series about these books. Every person has their novel that they think should’ve ended differently or they just want to read more about the characters and what happens after. This is the book for me. It ended on a good note it is just ughhhhh I NEED MORE. I really like all the characters in this book especially Brandon and her brothers. They are all so supportive of Charlie and what she does. I especially love that all her brothers give boys that even look at Charlie the look that says ” If you look at my sisters you won’t be alive tomorrow.” Just so you know not all of these brothers are older than charlie i believe that there are two that are younger than her and still care about her. I would say for you to give this book a try. if your in for a contemporary novel at the moment keep this book in mind.
Author: Jess Petosa
Summary: Its been several years since the disease the came to the world vanished. Many people died if they had the disease. The only people who survived the disease were the Ordinaries; who were immune to the disease, and the Exceptional’s; people who survived the disease and gained powers because of it. Ally is a Ordinary and like an other Ordinary she has to live in the woods. She works, she helps her mother, and lives a normal life. Until one day she goes tot e edge of the woods where no Ordinary dares to go. When she crosses the edge she meets the Exceptional Luke who is intrigued by her. Soon after they meet a Exceptional officer tries to take Ally away for crossing the line, but Luke takes Ally away from the officer and shows her the world of the Exceptional’s.
My Review: Oh how much I love this couple. This was first ever OTP, and I am doing a review on this book now. It isn’t as popular as it should be so I like to spread the word about this book. I love Ally and Luke so much. They are perfect for each other. Luke cared about Ally the second that he saw her. You would be so annoyed with me if you were next to me while I was reading this book. Every time they started talking to each other I was literally screaming at my book say ” SHUT UP AND KISS HER ALREADY” Anyways, the book isn’t like all those others dystopian society type books. It is almost like the regular world except there are super-powered humans in this. There are so many twists and turns that you don’t expect in this book. And I mean LOTS of twists. It is a fantastic book and I really think that all should give this book a go.
Bright Before Sunrise
Author: Tiffany Schmidt
Summary: Brighton is a nice girl. Everybody loves her. She is smart, popular, and pretty. She has a perfect life, but she doesn’t think so. She still is suffering from her father’s death that took place 5 years prior. Everybody
loves feels bad for her because of her loss so they treat her like she is the most fragile girl to ever walk the earth. Jonah is exactly the opposite. He believes nobody cares about him. He just moved Cross Pointe, and he doesn’t like it at all. He thinks its a place for the rich kids, for the stuck-up kids, for the perfect kids. Since everybody adores Brighton he knows not to like her. To ignore her as much as he can, because he thinks she is exactly like every other person at Cross Pointe… perfect. Brighton need Jonah to start to like her. He is the only one that doesn’t so she tries to finds ways to make him like her, but is that the only reason she wants him to like her?
My Review: I really enjoyed reading this book. It was from the point of view of both Jonah and Brighton and I really liked the two of them as narrators. At first I picked up this book because I needed a cute story, don’t get me wrong it is a cute story just not as much as I was expecting it to be. (I am glad that it isn’t as cute as I predicted though) And that was because I skipped the part in the description that says that Jonah doesn’t like Brighton. I loved all the characters but I kept getting annoyed with Jonah though. He never let Brighton finish a sentence and never let her try to be friends with him. Other than that and the fact that this book took place in only one day, I really liked the story that the author was trying to tell. Usually in romance its, ” I loved her since the minute I saw her” and ” I only met him a week ago but it seems like so much more”. Once agin don’t get me wrong, I like books like that but sometimes I just want something different. This book was a twist to me because I didn’t read the full description of the book. I would recommend this book to a variety of people but mostly people who enjoy romances and contemporary because if you don’t enjoy that stuff you might say its a little cheesy. I don’t mind, I love a little cheese sometimes in these types of books.Who doesn’t like cheese? All in all it was a great read, and I would read more books from this author.
Coral & Bone
Author: Tiffany Daune
Summary: Halen is a normal girl, yet she is different. She has power and this power is growing even more since she moved to Rockaway Beach the same beach that her dad drowned. She tries to tame her power but she just can’t. Her adventure takes place exploring Elosia meeting new friends such as Dax. All her life had been a big gigantic lie, and she is going to change that. This book was confusing at first because it takes a while to understand this new world that we are exploring and the creatures that crawl on it. It was a pretty good book, it wouldn’t be in my favorites but I would recommend to some people.
My Review: In the beginning I was just confused at what the heck was happening. I didn’t understand the ear pug problem that she had and thats what through me off course. As I started to read more and more of this book I started tog et used to this world and I actually like it. Halen was a good characters to put in this book. She started off shy and she grew a little but she didn’t really have that much character development. Maybe she will grow more and more as the series goes on. Dax on the other hand I really grew on him. I liked that he is trying to protect her but at the same time he knows that Halen can do this thing that she has been trying to do all by herself. *spoiler-full*My absolute favorite part of this book is when the group was playing truth or dare and it landed on Halen. Her “guardian” dared her to kiss Dax. This is when I noticed this book it probably good for younger readers. There isn’t a romance in this book just a kiss here and a kiss there. It was a good book, and I am for sure going to read the next books in this series to see what happens next.

- The Evolution of Mara Dyer
- The Retribution of Mara Dyer

Right off the bat it all changes after she meets Noah Shaw. A perfect british boy who every girl want for herself. Mara is a slightly interested in Noah and Noah is a lot interested in Mara. She is getting closer to him and she is connecting more with her gift but can she take it. Can she embrace her gift? (p.s. I m SO not telling you her gift you just need to read the book to find out. What I have to say if you seen my favorites post is that you know this trilogy is one of my favorites and I recommend it to ALL. If you like romance, thrillers, fantasy, or contemporary. JUST READ THE BOOK!
My Review: I absolutely LOVED this series. I love Mara, Noah, and Jamie, and all of Mara’s brothers. Jude no, I don’t like you. So anyways this series you will love by probably the 5th chapter. All the characters really grow on you and you feel like by the end of the 1st book you now these characters like you read 5books already even though you only read 1. My favorite character is probably Noah. Noah. Noah Shaw. Everybody has their Noah Shaw just like everybody had their Ben. But this Noah is just so loveable. So caring for Mara. Wanting to protect her and I just….I need a Noah. Mara at first is shy and I mean really shy with everybody even her parents, but she expands so much. I felt so proud of her when I finished the trilogy. Every trilogy has a problem. Either there was a bad ending or there wasn’t enough to end this book. But this third book of this trilogy was perfection. Yes would I love t if they made more. Of course! This series ended just like I wanted to end and I am glad that the only reason that I would be upset afterwords would be because it is over. Not because it was a terrible ending, just because its over. My favorite part of this book series ( don’t worry it isn’t a spoiler) is in the third book when they are trying to crack the code on Noah computer so Mara asks her friend to crack it and when he does she asks him what was the password and he says its MaraShaw…… Thats is probably the CUTEST thing that I have ever read. Overall I think you can tell that I definitely recommend this book to you ALL. And I mean ALL!
The Infinite Moment of Us
Author: Lauren Myracle
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age: 13+, at least make sure you read YOUNG ADULT books
Summary: Wren is a perfect girl. She is super smart, pretty, and popular. She had been a role-model to students and a perfect daughter to her perfect. But she doesn’t want that. Charlie on the other hand is quirky and has a troubled past and he would do anything to get his crush (Wren) to like him back. One day Wren is working at the hospital when all of sudden Charlie is there with a need of stitches. She starts to talk to him and she becomes interested in him and this is a start for the relationship. But of course, in every relationship there is a whole lot of unneeded drama. If you saw this book at a store just pass it. It wasn’t a great book. It wasn’t a horrible book either. The reason that I really did not enjoy this book was because it was by the same author that wrote my least favorite book of all time Peace, Love, and Baby Ducks. That book scarred my way of viewing relationships by the age of ten. It was so much like Peace, Love, and Baby Ducks, it is not funny how much it was like that book. I didn’t even realize it was by the same author until I finished the book.
My Review: *spoiler-free* As you can tell I did not enjoy this book. I literally grabbed the book because it had a pretty cover. Thats what you get for not listening to the old “don’t judge a book by its cover” Sure I had a few fangirl moments but that was only at the beginning of the book. y the time that Charlie went to the hospital I knew that this book was going WAY to fast. Not only the characters and how much they annoy me, but I didn’t like any of the characters at all. Maybe Charlie’s brother but he doesn’t appear as much, he is just talked about. I do not recommend this book to anyone under the age of thirteen. There is too much intimate moments that there wasn’t any character or might I say relation ship build-up. Just a bunch of drama then a kiss there and its solved. I mean if you are going to put drama at least make the drama make sense. The drama was mostly; Why didn’t you text back? You know you only been in a relationship for no more than two months and you freak out because he is friends with a girl. Now lets talk about Wren; Wren is a little itty bitty annoying. You should lead your own life. Everyone believes that. Yet at the beginning I liked her she was just trying to be perfect her parents when she just wanted to be adventurous. I admire her for that. As she started to hang out with Charlie more I started not to like her continuously in every single chapter. Now Charlie, I have mixed feeling towards him. I like him but I think he is annoying. It is very confusing. what I just can’t stand at all is that he doesn’t have a pet name for Wren just babe. “babe can you come over here.” “babe can you et me some water” Just don’t Charlie. I just did not enjoy this book. This is one of many books that I had really high hopes for because of the cover and it turned out to be just the opposite of the cover. *spoiler-fullSpeaking of which what about that girl Starla. I felt really bad for her. She has no friends at all except Charlie who she tries to push out of her life, and when he happens to get a girlfriend; Oh Charlie I love you. Oh Charlie we are meant to be together. Please! Get yourself together! There is not much to spoil in this book it is all just too predictable.
Just One Day
Author: Gayle Forman
Summary: This story is about a girl named Ashlyn and she is going on this trip with her best friend around Europe and she is just leaving to go to London. She is still in Rome when she numbs into Willem; a curly haired boy who is going back to his home. When Ashlyn get on the train she hymns into Gina gain and they start talking and all that jazz. When she is getting of the train she tells him how much she wanted to go to Paris but she never went. He has the idea for the two of them to go to Paris for one day. This story is divided in half between during the time they are in Paris and what happened after the trip.
My Review: I had really high hopes for this book because of all the review and what the book tubers are saying. It wasn’t a big whoop for me. Sure there was times that I had to stop reading to two a breather but it wasn’t the best book ever. There was times that I was frustrated with Ashlyn frustrated with Willem. It was all over the place for me. I also learned that there is not even a sequel to this book just a novella. That is 50 pgs! I mean you need to end this book right and 50 pages I just not enough *spoiler-full*
My favorite part was probably meeting Dee. He was probably my favorite character of the entire book. He is so funny and great and acting. What about that time when Ashlyn parents came to the college and he was pretending to be Ashlyn. Classic Dee!
The 5th Wave
Author: Rick Yancey
Genre: Apocalypse/Young Adult
Description: Cassie survived all 4 waves. Can she survive the 5th one? The 5thWave is about how aliens are invading Earth and as we try to make peace with them all they want to eliminate all human beings. First it was the first wave, then the second, then the third, then the fourth, and now the fifth. Cassie is alone. She doesn’t trust anyone. All she is trying to do is save her brother Sammy. She still remember her old life, how she was a goodie goodie. Now she is the killing Cassie. She remember her best friends, her crush since third grade (Ben Parish) and how normal she was. When she is on her way to go find her brother she bumbs int the lovely Evan Walker who was at first trying to kill her and now wants to help her. While Evan and Cassie are looking for Sammy, he is looked out for. He is looked out by Zombie also known as Ben Parish. This story is amazing. This probably my third time rereading this book and the second book. Now I am waiting for that third book. Not only that but the 5th Wave movie is coming out and ugh why 2016? All I have to say is READ THIS BOOK IF YOU SEEN MY FAVORITES LIST THIS SERIES IS ON IT.
My Review: *spoiler-free* As you can tell by the description this book is amazing. You will love all the characters, especially Evan, Cassie, and Ben. Cassie is one of those girls that other girls want to be. Looking for a fight, but a fight so she can save her brother. She cares about her family and her world. My favorite point-of-view chapters was Cassie’s because she is hilarious. She jokes about the smallest things and I love that she can be this way in a situation like this. Now lets talk about Mr. Ben Parish. The way that Cassie described him, the way that her described himself. All I could think about was a second Will or Jace. Like seriously?! Why does every perfect guy need t be in books and not in the real world. It is so unfair. Just like I say in the description. READ THE BOOK! You will not be disappointed. At first I was uneasy about reading this book because….aliens. But seriously just read it. Your homework right now is to read it. *spoiler-filled*My absolutely favorite part was when Cassie kept talking about the babies. You know the babies. The conversation she had with Ben in the third grade. It was so funny at the end how she asked him about and he didn’t remember and she just kept quiet about it because she was so sure she would remember it.The only thing that I don’t trust is Ringer. I mean I know Ben likes her and all, but I am kinda Team Ben for Cassie, but don’t worry I love evan too. I just like Ben a little better. Its so frustrating these love triangles.
Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour
Author: Morgan Matson
Genre: Contemporary/”Finding Yourself”
Summary: Amy is a shy girl now a days, she barely talks to anyone outside ofher family. Her mother in Connecticut while she is in California. She now needs to go cross-country to go move with her mom. She is riding with this guy named Roger, who is hard to drive with because in Amy’s words ” he is super cute” The only reason that Roger even is driving with Amy is because he needs to visit his ex-girlfriend. Amy’s mother plans a little schedule and expects Amy to be home in 4 days. Instead of listening to her mom she takes a little detour. This story is a finding yourself type of story and it is definitely worth the read. You see a lot of progress with out characters and you will love every single one of them (maybe not the ex-girlfriends though).
My Review: *spoiler-free* I really enjoyed this book. At first I though there was going to be a whole of romance in this story but there is very little of that. There is enough romance to enjoy yourself, but the story is mainly about finding your true self. Through out this story you see a lot of character build-up, with every single of the character. This is exactly what some books are lacking now a days. With this book you will truly understand each and every single one of the characters by the time you finish this book. Even though it wasn’t a long read, it was not a short read. Its a great book, especially for people just starting to explore the contemporary world of books. *spoiler-filled*One part of the book that I absolutely loved was when they were at Roger’s ex-girlfriends house, and they were done talking. His ex was walking towards Amy and Roger then she said ” Is that her?” After I read that sentence I was on cloud nine. I mean Roger talked about her when he was supposed to be talking with his ex about their relationship so it must mean that he likes her right? And what about that kiss after they got the ice creams. It was good that after he said wait, she didn’t. She just kept doing it. Most characters in a book will become embarrassed about it after words then never talk to the boy again. I was amazing and I recommend it to everyone, if your just starting out or if your just obsessed with books like me.
This is What Happy Looks Like
Author: Jennifer E. Smith
Summary: *spoiler-free* This book explains the relationship of a famous TV star and a regular town girl. It starts wit these two teenagers who made a email mistake and they some how communicate through the internet daily. They start talking they don’t know their names. They just talk about their life. They think that it is only between the internet until Graham (the TV star) comes to Ellie’s hometown to shoot a movie. He knows that Ellie lives there so he just can’t wait to see her. Once they start to actually get to know each other there is a bunch of family drama, ex-girlfriends, and paparazzi involved, when these two teenagers just want to have a normal relationship
My Review: *spoiler-free* I was expecting a lot from this book. I absolutely loved Jennifer’s other book The Probability at Love at First Sight, and I was hoping I would love it just as much as that book. It didn’t exceed my expectations. The two characters didn’t communicate at all through-out this entire book. They only really started talking right after the problem became big. Not to mention Ellie was trying to create Drama when there really didn’t need to be any drama. Just go out with him for pete’s sake! They were really giving me anxiety. It is a problem that they didn’t even try to communicate with the others on how they really felt for each other. It just didn’t give me a point in continuing reading it. (even though I did for the sake of this review) The only thing that I actually liked what the whoopi pie situation. That was actually really cute. Overall it was a big downer. I loved all of Jennifer E. Smith’s book and this one didn’t really scream “amazing!” to me. *spoiler-filled* The only thing that I just could not imagine actually happening was at the beginning when Graham mistakenly asked out Ellie’s friend and not her. I mean if you actually know the girl and you can just imagine her you might at least recognize how she acted and you should know that the girl wasn’t Ellie. That was just driving me crazy just reading. Like seriously! If you talk with her for a couple months you should know better and at least get her name before you ask her out. even though Ellie’s name tag was on the girl’s shirt.
Author: Linda Foster
Genre: Paranormal Fantasy
Age: Teens/Young Adults
Summary: This book is the prequel of the Realm of the Claimed series that is coming out next year. The story is divided into two parts. What happened to Ash before Soul Bound and what happened to Kali before Soul Bound. These two characters sacrificed so much to save what the loved and then ended up receiving something bad in return than something good. With Ash it was the life of sister, and in Kali’s story it was her life and her home. It is really interesting, it is definitely not like any other book I have read. I would suggest reading the prequel first and then you will understand the story better when you start reading the series when it comes out in April.
My Review: *spoiler-free* I am glad that the prequel came out before the actual series so now I will feel more connected and I will know the characters better when I start reading the series. It is really heartbreaking but I am sure that is going to turn around once the two character meet in the first book of the series. Overall I really enjoyed this book and I can not wait until the series comes out. *spoiler-filled* What really got to me in this book was the way that Ash felt about his sister. Not every single sibling in the world is well connected to their other sibling and what Ash did to say his sister had me on the verge of tears. It was so sweet and so kind, but he had to pay a big price for it. Would you have done the same thing? I also felt bad for Kali, I mean I would be sad if I found out my best friend was planning on destroying the heavens and taking control of all humans. What she had to go through and her struggles didn’t really add up to something good. It made her get something bad for all that she had sacrificed to save the humans and her home. It really pumped me up and I was actually swiping my kindle to see if there was any more pages when there wasn’t. As you can tell, I am pretty excited for the series to come out and I really hope I enjoyed as much as I did this one.
The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight
Author: Jennifer E. Smith
Summary: *spoiler-free*Hadley is on her way to her father’s wedding, the wedding that she didn’t want to be involved in. So far she is having a terrible day. She missed her flight to England and now she has to wait until morning for her next flight. When she stays at the airport waiting for her flight to arrive she is helped by the oh so cute Oliver (p.s he is british) And so happens that Oliver is in the same row as her on the plane. On the plane ride to England she basically tells her whole life story to Oliver. It is a really good mourning period book, and perfect for the readers that like to read short reads.
My Review: *spoiler-free* I really enjoyed this book I was going through one of those mourning periods that I get right after I finished a really good series and I decided that I needed a romance novel to cheer me up. This novel did just that. The only thing that would’ve made this book even better was if it took place over a long period of time and not just 24 hours. But overall it was a great read and definitely something you would enjoy.*spoiler-filled*What really had me on the verge of tears was when Hadley found out that Oliver was actually going to his father’s funeral which she practically needed to run over to just to say sorry. It was so cute! I mean she cared about him enough to go visit him on the day of his father’s funeral. Now that I think of it that is actually kinda upsetting. Having the love of your life(which I am pretty sure she is) say sorry to you on the day of your father’s funeral. What do you think?
Author: Alexandra Bracken
Summary: *spoiler-free* This is the second book in the Darkest Minds trilogy and I loved it just a little bit less than the first book. It takes place right after Ruby goes back to the group. If you haven’t read the first book. You can se in my first review of this series that I absolutely love this book.
*spoiler-filled* So right after that happened and by that happened I mean when Ruby left Liam alone! Why would you do that! Then all of a sudden Cole had to appear. At first I didn’t really trust Liam’s brother because look at what happened at the end. But now I know I can trust him because he is one of them. What do you think about the new characters? I like Jude alot, but I am not really sure about the girl. That Nico kid reminded me a lot of that Nico from the Percy Jackson and the Olympians and the Heroes of Olympus series. Which by the way are fantastic. I was a little shaky about this character in the beginning and now I knew I couldn’t trust him. This book series is really great and I believe everyone should take a chance in this series.
The Darkest Minds
Author: Alexandra Bracken
Summary: Darkest Minds takes place in the future, and in this future the children caught this disease. There is two ways to this disease; you can die or you can survive and gain powers. The main character in this book is called Ruby she is what the people in the United States would consider a “orange” but she pretend to be a “green”. Orange means that you have superpowers like controlling peoples brain, and green mean your normal. Ruby is sent to this camp only for greens. Even though she is a orange she brainwashed people into believing she is a green. hen one day they find out she is a orange and Ruby runs away. She runs until she meets the gang; Liam (the love of my life), Chubs, and Zu. They go on adventures and try not to die in the process.
My Review: *spoiler-free* Just so you know I read the whole series and it is my second favorite book series right after the Mortal Instruments. There are no words to describe how much I loved this book. I loved Ruby and Liam and there relationship and how Liam always says “Give em hell darling” its just so cute. How Ruby just wants to protect him (even though she knows the only way to protect him is to sat with him) You get to know the characters very well and by the 5th chapter you know there whole life story. All I have to say is to give this book a go. You will not be disappointed.
Rate: 9.999/10 (the only reason I am no giving it a 10 is because sometimes Ruby can makes some stupid decisions.
Now lets talk about WHY Ruby had to erase Liam’s minds. Why! Why Ruby, what do you think you can accomplish without Liam by your side at all times. That is one of the most stupidest decisions you can make. It doesn’t make nay sense. And also let me just say how much that Clancy can get on my nerves. How dare you even try to warm up to Ruby. I didn’t trust you since the beginning and look at what happened. You will not separate Riam/Luby do you hear me!
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Summary: This book is the 4th book in the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. It takes place right after Katy was captured by the Daedalus. Its in a dual point of view between Katy and Daemon. In this book you see Katy and Daemon’s relationship skyrocket like never before.
My review: *spoiler-free* I am falling in love with all the characters all over again with this book. Especially Daemon! I am such a fan of these books where there are aliens, hunters, and all that fantasy jazz. And mixing love triangles, squares, pentagons, it is just amazing. In this book there wasn’t a love triangle which I LOVED. In the first to books it would be Daemon, Katy, and Ash even though it wasn’t a really love triangle. Who would want to separate Daemon from Katy? I think the answer to that is absolutely no one.
I really enjoyed this book if your not all that into the fantasy type books, try this book fro the romance part of it. There is a equal amount of romance and fantasy to go around.
*spoiler- filled review*
What really got me was when Daemon and Katy got married! I mean seriously who would of that that they would get married in the 4th book. I was so sure that they would just get married at the epilogue in the 5th and final book. Another thing that I wasn’t expecting at all. Was that Beth is pregnant? Like woah….. I thought it would be Katy and Daemon that had a baby first, but you proved me wrong. The one thing that I din’t enjoy at all was Mathew. I actually trusted that character I had no doubt whatsoever that I could trust him but look at what he did to them! It just broke my heart that the family of aliens were separated because of their guardian. Other than that part all was al warm and lovey dovey……. except when they were at the lab. Never mind that the point is is that this book was absolutely amazing and it would be great if you guys tried it out.
