Hello my fellow book nerds!
I’m here today with the Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag! It’s been such a long time since I did any sort of tag and now that it is the middle of the year I’ve decided to finally do it for myself. Now I am not very good at tags in general. I always repeat my answers but for youuuu I will try to change it up a bit. Now without further Ado here is the Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag.
Best Book You Read So Far In 2017
Well what a great start to a tag. I had to go into my notes for this one. I am going to have to go with the third book in The Court of Thorns and Roses trilogy, A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas. That book made me laugh, it made me smile, and it made me cry. This answer isn’t very fair though because the A Court of Thorns and Roses series is my third favorite series of all time so there’s that…
Best Sequel I’ve Read In 2017
Well I’m going to have to go with the obvious answer here. Lord of freaking Shadows by Cassandra Clare. I’ve told a story in a video I’ve made on my YouTube channel but basically I wasn’t the hugest fan of Lady Midnight. I really liked it but I didn’t see the big deal with it and I procrastinated on reading Lord of Shadows because of it and then I did read Lord of Shadows and since my expectations were so low the result of it was me f****** loving this book.
New Release I Haven’t Read Yet But Really Want To
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas!!! I own this book! All I hear is amazing and wonderful things about this book but I never have the time to read it! And I will get a lot of hate for this but I really want to and I haven’t yet and I’m so angry at myself for not reading it yet but it is on my summer TBR list so let’s hope I stick to it!
Most Anticipated Release Of The Second Half Of 2017
The Becoming of Noah Shaw. Guys I forgot about this book coming out this year until maybe 2 weeks ago and then all I could think about was “it’s so soon to the relate release date!!!!”. Oh my lord I am a huge fan of the Mara Dyer series by Michelle Hodkin and for the past two years I’ve been waiting anxiously for The Becoming of Noah Shaw since. The Retribution of Mara Dyer wasn’t my favorite Mara Dyer book, and I felt like The Becoming of Noah Shaw could maybe change my mind about it. Mara Dyer was my third favorite series of all time before A Court of Thorns and Roses but the last book of the series really made my rank of it go down and hey what do you know maybe it could go up because of this book.
Biggest Disappointment Of 2017
Now I try not to go into a book with high expectations or any expectations whatsoever. Emphasize on the word “try”. But if I had to say one disappointment it would be Geekerella by Ashley Poston. The thing about Geekerella is that I’ve heard so much amazing things about it and I read so many good reviews from book reviewers that I love and trust and once I got the book I was really excited to read it. Yeah I am not a big fan of the Cinderella story in general. Cinderella was my least favorite princess as a kid and the story itself is one of my least favorite fairy tales. I have read retellings about Cinderella that I really enjoyed…no I’m lying I’ve only with read one retelling that I can think of right now that I enjoyed which was Cinder by Marissa Meyer. Yet to be fair it was my least favorite book out of the entire series. So yeah I realize that maybe I wouldn’t have liked Geekerella so much because of my dislike towards the original Cinderella story. You know I was disappointed by something that I didn’t factor in and yeah that was why Geekerella was my biggest disappointment but I’m more disappointed in myself for not realizing this factor before reading the book.
Biggest Surprise Of 2017
I don’t think I had any surprises really…now I have to go back to my notes. I guess Lord of Shadows was considered a surprise. But I am trying not to repeat answers so…OH! Here I have one! I was really surprised for loving The Conspiracy of Us by Maggie Hall. I had very low expectations for this book and I really don’t know why but I ended up loving the first book, and as soon as I finished the first book I started reading the second one. Again I love the second one and now I’m anxiously waiting for my birthday. Not because it’s my birthday, but because it’s the release date for the third and final book of that trilogy.
Favorite New Author
Elle Kennedy. She wrote a series of new adult books one of my favorite being The Deal and she wrote a whole bunch of these bad boy romance love/hate books and I just freaking loved it. So Elle Kennedy and I cannot freaking wait for her next book to come out.
Newest Fictional Crush
You’re going to make me repeat answers aren’t you? I don’t know! I really like the guy from Rebel Mechanics but I can’t remember his name right now…so much for being a fictional boyfriend. I also really like the guy from The Conspiracy of Us Trilogy which again I can’t remember the name of right now. I stick to my OG fictional boyfriends. They always stay in my top ten list and there hasn’t been any fictional boyfriends that have made it to the top 10 list that weren’t previously on my list AKA Rhysand. So basically the new fictional boyfriends I have are amazing and I just cannot remember their names.
Newest Favorite Character
Eliza!!! Eliza from Eliza and her monsters. I related to this girl so much. Her personality is amazing and it is exactly like mine and her struggles are exactly like mine and I just never related to a character more than I did with her (well except for Tessa Gray) but Eliza Eliza Eliza and Eliza!
Book That Made You Cry
I don’t cry in books, it’s very rare for me to cry in books. And usually they’re the last book in a series. So for this one I’m going to have to repeat two of my answers. One being A Court of Wings and Ruin which made me bawl so freaking much and then Lord of Shadows that made me cry but didn’t make me bawl as much as A Court of Wings and Ruin did but I think that’s just because it’s not the last book in the series. In two years when I read Queen of Air and Darkness then that’s what I’m going to bawl a freaking river.
Favorite Review You Written In 2017
2017 was the year of reviews for me. I’ve written my best reviews in 2017 and it’s really difficult to pick my favorite one just because I’m actually really proud of all the reviews I’ve written. I think that my more extensive ones definitely make me proud like my Lord of Shadows and my A Court of Wings and Ruin reviews. Yet I’ll try and see another one. I really like my Beginning of Everything review by Robyn Schneider. Yes I didn’t like the book but I did like my review of it. I think I really was extensive on my feelings towards it. I also like my The Lovely Reckless review by Kami Garcia oh and The Unexpected Everything review that I wrote actually couple weeks ago
Most Beautiful Book You Bought In 2017
Well that’s hardly fair, all my books are very beautiful.
I think one I’ll forever keep admiring is Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo. There’s nothing special about it, I just find it so beautiful that I always have to look at it you know. I always have to flip the red pages of it and oh I love it so much.
Books I Need To Read By The End Of The Year
Well you already know all the books that I’m planning on reading this summer and in the fall and if you haven’t read that yet, I suggest you look at my previous post about my summer TBR list. But other than that, mostly new releases. I am really excited for They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera but come on who isn’t. Again NOAH SHAW! Very excited about that one.
And that is all there was for the Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag! I found this actually a lot of fun. I had to go through my notes a couple of times but hey who didn’t. So what are your answers to these questions? I would love to know!
