Natasha: I’m a girl who believes in science and facts. Not fate. Not destiny. Or dreams that will never come true. I’m definitely not the kind of girl who meets a cute boy on a crowded New York City street and falls in love with him. Not when my family is twelve hours away from being deported to Jamaica. Falling in love with him won’t be my story.
Daniel: I’ve always been the good son, the good student, living up to my parents’ high expectations. Never the poet. Or the dreamer. But when I see her, I forget about all that. Something about Natasha makes me think that fate has something much more extraordinary in store—for both of us.
The Universe: Every moment in our lives has brought us to this single moment. A million futures lie before us. Which one will come true?
She keeps doing this to me! First it was Everything, Everything and now this wonderful amazing spectacular so fudging unique book! Wowwwwwww. Boy oh boy was this book good guys. One of the best contemporary book I have ever read.
I am going to start with my favorite part of the book which is the writing. I don’t know how Nicola came up with this. The book is told between two people. Natasha and Daniel. BUT it also includes the POV of some very minor characters that don’t seem that important to this book but they end up building the plot as well. Such as the train conductor. There is a chapter dedicated to the train conductor and I found this absolutely amazing because you never get to see what these minor characters are thinking and now…it blows my freaking mind.
The writing isn’t only that though. There are also chapters dedicated to cultures or traditions that are main characters go through. And this couple is probably the most unique couple I have ever had the honor to read about. A girl from Jamaica who isn’t philosophical whatsoever and sees the world in a scientific matter. And an Asian boy who loves poetry and loves love. They are complete opposites.
But opposites attract.
This whole book takes place in one day. And usually I hate books like that. I really do. I don’t know what happened with this one though, because I loved how they put the entire story into one day. it is a story about falling in one day even if you don’t believe in it. There are plenty of hardships that go through this book and honestly it wouldn’t be complete without it.
I love the karaoke scene, and please if you read TELL ME WHAT YOUR FAVORITE PART WAS! And I really don’t know what else to type. I went into this book only knowing the names of the characters and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. So please. If you haven’t read this beauty yet DO IT! It will not disappoint. I promise you.
As you can tell I loved this book. There really isn’t much else to say. I am gonna go on a limb and say this book was probably my favorite book of 2016. Let’s see what else Nicola Yoon has in store for us. All I know is that it is going to be fan-freaking-tastic.
