So…its my one year anniversary as a blogger AND its BooksABlog’s one year birthday. What even is happening right now. I still cannot believe that I had been blogging for a year. Talk about commitment huh? I really do not know what I am writing right now. Are you sure you’re a blogger Gabi? Blogging has changed my life. You know I am going to be completely with you guys. It took me about 15 minutes just to write these sentences above me. Its my first year at being a blogger so I really don’t know what to say. I’m a giver uper type of person. I have done every thing you can possible imagine. Ballet? Check. Karate? Oh yas. Guitar? Mhmm. Yet none of those were my true passions so I gave up…and then exactly 365 days ago I discovered blogging. Now my first book review was sucky as eff. Looking back at that first post I discovered how much I have grown ever since that first review. I know how to express my feelings better. I made so many friends throughout this experience, and I would have to say that that is my favorite part. In real life I wasn’t that much of a talkative social person but then I blogged.
Out of the top of my head I could name 10 people who are just AWESOME! And there are many MANY bloggers who have helped me throughout this entire experience. My blogger mom out there! Nori! You were one of my first blogger friends and you helped whenever I was down so thank you 🙂 LITTLE KITTEN! You are the heart of the blogging community and I do not know where I would be without your help along the way. LITTLE BRIGADEIRO! You are my blogger BFF thats final. I already made the friendship bracelets. You are so witty and sarcastic that you are basically a favorite female book character. My goal one day is to bake a cake with you. DEANNA OH SWEET DEANNA! You are the best co-blogger a girl can ever ask for. You bring me up when I am down, and put a smile on my face every day. Not only that but I can fangirl with you…on a regular basis. What more can I ask for? I could name HUNDREDS of more people who helped along. Little Bunny, My Ravenclaw Buddy, Kelly, and +++++++more You guys are one of the main reasons blogging is my life and I am soooo very happy that I met all of you. Now believe it or not do you know howmany books I had on my bookshelf 365 days ago…4. Yes 4. I am not kidding. *goes to count all the books in the room* 160…4 BOOKS TO 160! I MEAN THIS IS JUST UNBELIEVABLE! I MEAN I WOULDN’T HAVE THIS BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL BOOKSHELF WITHOUT BLOGGING OR ANY OF THESE THINGS! I LOVE BLOGGING THAT IS ALL!
Now you learned my story. Now you wanna hear some more 😉 My lovely awesome blogger friends decided to help me celebrate my blogiversary by also saying what they love most about blogging!
One of the most amazing things I’ve discovered after blogging about books it its… you guessed it! Community. At the end of the day, whether it’s a stressful one or a sad one or a downright dreadful one, going on Twitter or checking out people’s blogs always puts a smile to my face. 🙂 (I’m smiling as I type this, actually.) There’s just so many good parts of the blogging community that I want to store in my heart forever – its support and encouragement being some aspects. Sure, there will be drama going on, but in the end we always manage to charge through obstacles and become closer. I’ve learned so much throughout my blogging career, and I am so glad to have found Gabi and her blog through it. Folks, give her and Deanna a huge congrats on making it through the year!
I started blogging because I wanted to share my love of books with everyone, and I LOVE blogging because that’s what I get to do. I have an Bookstagram (book related Instagram) account dedicated to that purpose. But I wanted to do something MORE than just post pretty photos of books, so I started blogging. I love to tell people my thoughts on books. I love having somewhere to post reviews, and other fun book related things. I love making blogger friends through it, that have a huge interest in books, just like me! I love spreading love for and promoting authors and books. I love recommending a book to someone that becomes a new favorite of theirs! I love to be able to talk about books with other bloggers. I love that my opinion is heard, that it might matter to people. Most of all, I love connecting with people who share my insane love for books.
I get paid to be surrounded by books and yet I can never get enough of
sharing my love for the written word. Blogging gives me an outlet for
writing and expressing my thoughts and feelings on the countless books
I consume and the blogging community is just an outpouring of love.
Being connected by books no matter where we live is a wonderful thing
and I am so thankful for it!
I really love how welcoming the book blogging is to new people, new ideas and of course to new books. <3 It is so easy to make friends and so much fun to fangirl about books with everyone!
Joining the blogging community has been quite the experience. I first started blogging as a way to write down my thoughts about a book and also as a way to find more books, but I found so much more than that. The book friends I have made are all so AWESOME and the conversations about books have been pure entertainment! My TBR pile has definitely grown quite a bit from when I first started blogging, but you can never have enough books on your TBR, right? For those who want to join in on the conversation, JUST DO IT! It seriously is a great experience and you won’t regret it.
Before I started blogging, I was really just a girl who read a ton of books from the library. I didn’t know much about the publishing industry, what books were hidden gems, and most of all, I didn’t have a huge way to communicate my thoughts and feelings about books with other people. Then came blogging! With blogging, I love how I am always discovering new books, talking to new people, and learning new things. With blogging, I feel like I am actually helping the book industry with my reviews and I really do love spreading the world about things I am passionate about. Everyone thought’s on a book are also so different so it’s nice to see and read different perspectives and thoughts on a book. Aside from (ahem) free books and great author and fellow book lover connections, blogging makes me feel like I’m actually using my time in a productive manner (sometimes!) and helping to spread word about books!
I’m Jasmine from Goodreads and what I like most about blogging is that I can share my thoughts and excitement with the public and fangirl about fictional characters with all the booklovers like me. Reading is like an escape from the reality and I enjoy recommending amazing books for everyone in the world. Happy reading!
There are probably fifty million comments about the blogosphere and why people love it, so I’m going to switch it up a tad. (Hope you don’t mind, Gabi.) Let me list the things that I don’t love.
My wallet empties up faster
I BLAME ALL OF YOU. And bookstagram. I could maintain a nice maximum of a book every two months, maybe two if I wanted to. But then I joined the blogosphere, and I can kiss my savings goodbye.
I interact with people – AND LIKE IT!
Oh, the shame. I used* to be a proud member of the I Hate People Club. Was even president, once. But then I was introduced into something called Twitter… and socializing… and friends. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?
*Still totally a member, though.
None of you buggers are with me in real life.
Ah, the greatest scandal of all. How dare you be super-awesome-totally-fab unicorns and not live next door? I mean, okay, maybe if you lived on another street, but in Miami?! Sri Lanka?! The nerve.
My favorite thing about the blogging community is the fact that I know that I’m not crazy! Before meeting all the fantastic people I know today I thought I was the only weirdo who got up at the crack of dawn to read a newly released book, who freaked out over cliffhangers, and mourned characters as if they were real. Now I know that is far from the truth. To know that I am not alone in my love for novels is truly the best feeling.
I guess that’s it…thank you. Thank you all. To my readers, to my friends, to the awesome sauce authors and publishers for making BooksABlog what it is. I love BooksABlog and I love it because of all of you. ❤️
