A high-concept, fantastical espionage novel set in a world where dreams are the ultimate form of political intelligence.
Livia is a dreamstrider. She can inhabit a subject's body while they are sleeping and, for a short time, move around in their skin. She uses her talent to work as a spy for the Barstadt Empire. But her partner, Brandt, has lately become distant, and when Marez comes to join their team from a neighborhing kingdom, he offers Livia the option of a life she had never dared to imagine. Livia knows of no other dreamstriders who have survived the pull of Nightmare. So only she understands the stakes when a plot against the Empire emerges that threatens to consume both the dreaming world and the waking one with misery and rage.
A richly conceived world full of political intrigue and fantastical dream sequences, at its heart Dreamstrider is about a girl who is struggling to live up to the potential before her.
Soooo I went on a adventure thoughout this entire book. The concept of this book was very VERY creative and unique that I as a Gabi was intrigued. So basically there is this girl and when she dreams she becomes a completely different person. Sounds like something that will make Gabi read. Overall I liked the book. I thought the concept was intriguing but I felt like there should’ve been more action going on because this is the start of a war…shouldn’t there be more action? Now what really GRABBED me in this book was the characters. I’ve met A WHOLE BUNCH of characters throughout this book and let me just say…woah. The villain in this book is my baby. YES IT HAPPENED AGAIN! The villain is my favorite characters and he is my precious ?
Now since I loved the characteristics of the characters so much let’s talk about them. STARTING OFF we have our main character Lidia. I had my ups and downs with this girl. At first I didn’t like her but then she started developing more and I started to like her and by the end I was cheering her on. Brandt on the other hand was meh for me. HE WAS MEH. He kinda reminded me of a Chaol from Throne of Glass in a weird sort of way. I was okay with him. I mean I didn’t love him but I didn’t want to see him get killed kinda thing. I mean he was pretty much useless throughout this entire book. He didn’t really do a thing to help Lidia AND HE WAS SO BLIND! If you read the book you would know why he WAS SO BLIND!
Then we have Marez…oh how much I love you. Marez is BASICALLY Warner. HE IS WARNERS TWIN! Marez is one of those typical snarky sarcastic characters that you just end up falling in love with. Everything he said just made me smile and I just *dreamy sigh* I FREAKING LOVE HIM AND NOBODY CAN EVER TAKE HIM AWAY FROM ME!
All in all I pretty enjoyed this book. I thought the characters were the best part of it and there should’ve been a couple more actions scenes in it. Now here’s the thing I do not know if this book is going to be a series so if you do know please TELL ME! THIS IS ONE OF THOSE DARN BOOKS WHERE YOU JUST NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT AND YOU DO NOT KNOW IF THERE IS GOING TO BE A SECOND BOOK OR NOT SO HELP ME! I NEED HELP! *smooths jeans out* I am FINE! Don’t worry about me it’s going to be okay.
