On my normal scale it would be a 7.5/10, but as a star rating it would be 4 stars. I like the book. I really did. The characters were easy to love, and overall it was a great story. But there was some predictable moments, some confusing moments, and mostly importantly very cheesy moments and this is what made my rate go down .
When I read the description of this book, I was a bit iffy. It seemed like a YA book, but it didn’t say there was going to be an paranormal aspects in it. By the way it was described it sounded like one of those lovey-dovey contemporaries (which I do love from time to time) but let me jut say how thankful I was when I read that there was going to be paranormal details in it. I squealed. Not kidding. I squealed. I was so freaking happy! Paranormal and Urban Fantasy are my top favorite genres EVER, and it has been a while (and by a while I mean a week) that I read a paranormal type book, so you could say that my panties were in a twist. But in retrospect I feel like the best part of this book was the entire romance aspect. Don’t get me wrong I also really like the whole background stories of the clans and the paranormal aspects. But admit it. Caleb and Maggie. WOOAHHHHH. The connection between them from that beginning scene all the way to the very end was fangirl worthy.
Let’s talk about Maggie for a second. Now she isn’t my favorite lead character in books, but I don’t really have any problem with her. She does help the story move along, but but but but there isn’t anything unique about her that we usually get from our favorite female characters in books. Of course she has the factor that she can take care of herself. She has been taking care of herself for more than a year ever since her mom moved out and her father became a depressing bum. That’s why she isn’t my favorite female leader in books, but she is not the worst. All I’m saying is she is kinda dull, but this is only the first book you never know what might happen 😉
Now Caleb. I loved him. Ever since Maggie bumped into him in the streets I knew I was going to love him. he is just so funny, smart, and so caring towards other people. i know that he puts everyone else’s needs before his but with maggie. Its life she is the entire world to him and he would do anything to make her happy (which he does just by being him.) Now he is the cheese in the relationship. He is the one that makes the cheesy romantic comments, but I like him for that. He is very protective. Life very. Mostly over the fact that his enemy is trying to steal his girlfriend away. I get it. I would be protective over that too. Buttttttttt he could use some letting loose for a while. He is a very serious guy, and he thinks about the future. but what I really think is that he should focus more on the present and still focus on the future but pay attention to what really is happening.
Now the story buildup by the middle of the book was a bit predictable. That is where my rating started to go down. *SPOILERS DO NOT READ AHEAD* We now know that these people are chasing after Maggie because of Caleb, so whatever chance they get they ARE going to try to kidnap her. So why didn’t they see that coming?! It was a very predictable moment when Marcu captured her, so what I’m thinking is that they coul’ve ran away earlier in the book and have the adventure continue on from there OR they could’ve had Maggie in their sight for the entire time during that party. *SPOILERS HAS FINISHED AND YOU MAY CONTINUE YOU READING* You know who I liked at first and then hated at the end. Kyle. Yeah Kyle. HE ANNOYED THE SOUR SKITTLES OUT OF ME! Kid, she’s NEVER going to like you. Accept that already! Geez you were no help throughout this entire book! If you want her to think of you as a freinds then freaking help her when she is the process of dying. Okay okay I’m done.
Overall I enjoyed this book. This book I would recommend so some people. Would I suggest to buy it? Of course! I liked it, you might even like it better then me 🙂
- The whole relationship between Caleb and Maggie. They were just a adorable couple and ahhh just amde me fangirl like crazy.
- The paranormal way for them to feel each other’s feelings……….cutest thing EVER!!!!

“I saw something in you that I couldn’t live without. I chose you, inside of me, and you chose me. It’s not one sided, it only works when both people choose the other. You are perfect for me in every way.”
