Amazon v. Barnes & Nobles
When you are buying books you have several options to choose from. Not only on which book you want but where you are going to get it. Some people may prefer the old-school way and go to a book store to get your latest book. Those stores could be the ever so popular Barnes & Nobles or any other small book stores in your community. On the other hand there is the 21st century way which is shopping online. Yes you can shop at Barnes & Noble’s online but there is also Amazon to help you get the latest book in your hands. Both companies are very popular nowadays with the book community around the world growing but which one does the job better.
Amazon: Amazon has many different options when it comes to books. Almost every single book publishing company sells their books on Amazon and even has their book publishing company unlike B&N. Now let’s say you want 6 hardcover copies of books for your birthday. Your parents don’t know which to get it off of B&N or Amazon. If it’s for getting a wide variety of books, Amazon is your best bet. At Amazon they have the discounted prices on the books that you want. They don’t sell your books for original price which for hardcover can go up to $20. Usually they sell their hardcovers for no less than $15 and there paperbacks for no less than $10. Of course Amazon is only online so you would have to wait a couple days to get your new book. You can’t just go in to an Amazon store and buy books like B&N. Right now on the stock market Amazon is doing really well. Not only does it serves costumers needs but it would be a great investment for investors.
Barnes & Nobles: Now B&N has been here for way longer than Amazon has. More than 100 years in difference. So we can say that B&N is the old school way of getting books. Sure right now most people do prefer shopping online but there are still many people who prefer driving up to the nearest book store, looking at all the shelves, compare books, and spend time just sitting there while reading something. It would actually be considered fun for some people (aka book fanatics like me) yet again B&N is not the cheapest way to go. If you do drive to your nearest bookstore for a book you would need to buy it for original price unless you got a discount for it. B&N is a two way street though you can go to the nearest bookstore to get the original price or shop online and get a slight discount on a book. Now other than the fact that B&N has a physical store that you go to it has one more thing that Amazon does not have. Collector’s Edition. Unless you buy from someone selling off Amazon, B&N is one of the only book companies that sells limited edition or Collector’s edition of books. Most people don’t really care for that stuff but if you’re a book fanatic like me and you get a Collector’s Edition of book, I can guarantee that you would be over the moon. Just like Amazon, Barnes & Noble has been doing great in the stock market so it not only satisfies book lovers’ needs but it would be a great investment for investors.
For me I don’t really have a favorite place to get books. I mostly get them online because the nearest B&N from me is an hour away, but that doesn’t stop me from going once every month. If it were my choice and there way a B&N close to me then you would definitely see me there and not shopping on Amazon even though it’s the cheaper way. It’s the old-school way of getting books and the way that I prefer.
So which company do you prefer getting book out of B&N or Amazon?
